Job Description:

The Welsh Rugby Union would like to offer an exciting opportunity for a Doctor to join it's Medical Team.

This part-time role will be to provide Medical services to the National Women's 15s programme during the preparation for and participation in the Women's Rugby World Cup 2017 in Dublin, Ireland.

This successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Pre-game and pitch-side medical support services at all home and away fixtures for the National Women's team up to and including the Women's World Cup 2017. The Team Doctor will travel with the squad to Dublin to provide services as required throughout the competition.(August 4th; to August 27th; 2017 inclusive)
  • Weekly pre-competition sessional medical services in preparation for the National Women's World Cup 2017. (June & July 2017).
  • Effective communication with the National Women's management team to ensure player welfare and maximum opportunity for elite performance.

Candidates should have current GMC registration, professional indemnity insurance for work in sport and have an up to date pitch-side Immediate Care in Rugby qualification (or equivalent). Previous experience in team sport is essential and a Masters or Diploma in Sports Medicine is desirable.

Elite Referee Manager for Guinness PRO12

Job Description:
Celtic Rugby are currently recruiting for the position of Elite Referee Manager for the Guinness PRO12 Championship.

Ed Morrison, currently Independent Referee Appointments Commissioner, will retire from his position at the end of the current season and Celtic Rugby wish to appoint his successor ahead of the 2017/18 campaign to carry on the sterling progress made by Morrison.

The successful candidate will have refereed at the highest levels of the professional game (International, European Cup or Super Rugby), will possess robust managerial credentials and display excellent communication skills.

This person will be responsible for Guinness PRO12 match appointments, review and development of officials and managing the identification process of emerging refereeing talent.

Candidates must display an understanding of working within a complex multi-union environment whilst also ensuring there is a clear and effective line of communication with the coaches of Guinness PRO12 clubs.

Additionally, the role will require constant engagement with the unions' referee managers and officiating representatives from World Rugby, EPCR, PRL Top 14 and Super Rugby.

The successful candidate will be tasked with assisting Celtic Rugby to achieve the following goals for the Guinness PRO12 Championship:

  • All match referees to become full-time professionals
  • Ensure quality of referee talent to ensure all appointments (Referee, AR1, AR2 and TMO) are neutral
  • To reach an investment agreement across all participant unions for a common and co-ordinated development plan

Additionally, a key objective will be to carry out a full review of the current officiating structure within the Guinness PRO12 Championship and provide recommendations to ensure consistent, high-level performances from tournament officials.
