After defeats at the hands of Argentina and Ireland and Australia, Scott Quinnell’s side are desperate for improved fortunes in the Lloyds TSB Six Nations Championship.
And as the countdown to February 3 begins in earnest, Henry took his troops to the local lakes near Penarth to take part in a spot of team building.
“The squad has been set a number of challenges during the week. It’s all part of team building ahead of the Six Nations,” said WRU press officer Lyn
Davies.
“They went to Cosmeston Lakes and took part in some canoeing before continuing
their training back near their base at the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel.
“Outdoor pursuits like this are often seen as just physical challenges for the players.
However, there is something very mental about them too – it’s a time when they can sort out problems and bond together as a squad.”
The British Lions undertook a number of similar challenges in the build up to their last two tours – to South Africa and Australia.
The 37-strong Welsh party will stay together until the end of the week when the players will return to their clubs for the latest round of Welsh/Scottish League matches.
Scrum half Rob Howley said, “It’s great to be back together as a squad and it is already proving to be a successful and very beneficial week.”
