Scarlets Must Deal With Injuries Before Facing Ravens

Llanelli have been struck by injuries as they prepare to face Bridgend in the Principality Cup quarter-finals at Stradey Park on Saturday (Kick-off 2.30pm) – forcing coach Gareth Jenkins to delay his team announcement until
Friday.
Captain Scott Quinnell is likely to be ruled out, his troublesome knee will need rest after facing England at Twickenham last week.
Wing Wayne Proctor turned an ankle in training and he will miss the visit of
the Ravens, as will back row Simon Easterby who has strained his neck.
Centre Leigh Davies is also doubtful after a knee operation.
However, the Scarlets will be boosted by the return to full fitness of Wales
wing Mark Jones, set to start his first match since Christmas, and will use the opportunity to show the strength and depth of their squad.
Full-back Matt Cardey has recovered from a broken leg to return to light
training alongside fly-half Stephen Jones, who suffered back spasms which
ruled him out of Wales’ visit to England last week.
Llanelli will enter into the Easter spirit as they attempt to top their own
domestic Cup record and take the trophy for a twelve time. An Easter bunny will dish out free eggs to children, and a bouncy castle, bucking bronco, fireworks and Disco Dancers will all be on show.
A high turn-out is expected with 3,000 tickets already sold and the Easter
sunshine set to bring in a significant walk up crowd for the 2.30pm kick-off.
“We are still uncertain about the back row and outside half positions,” said
director of rugby Jenkins.
“We have to wait until Friday to finalise the side. We don’t know about
Scott, and Simon is very doubtful at the moment.
“Leigh Davies also has a problem with the tendons in his knee and we are concerned there will be a reaction to the training he is doing before the
weekend.”
