Wales recorded their second successive victory in the World Cup with a
convincing 35-3 victory over Italy.
Having beaten Germany 75-0 last Friday, Wales began the game slowly as Italy
took the game to the Welsh ladies. A lovely chip from fly half Awen Thomas
was regathered by Clare Flowers who ran the try in from 70 yards to post the
first score.
Fellow winger Sue Jones added the first of her 2 tries with a lovely pick up
from a ruck on the Italy 22 and when second row April Dent powered over from
a lineout Wales were leading 22-0.
Wales played more consistently in the second half and Flowers added her
second try to make her both the tournaments leading try and overall points
scorer with just one game left to play.
Awen Thomas had a good day with the boot kicking 15 points and Wales now
face Samoa in the Bowl Final on Friday at the Santboiana Stadium.(kick off
5:30pm GMT)
