The Welsh All Blacks have carried over the good form they showed at the end of last season to this year’s Celtic league campaign, and look a safe bet for quarter-final qualification.
The former Wales flanker knows all too well the dangers of complacency, and his cautionary note ahead of Saturdays Celtic League clash serves notice that Neath are serious about success this season.
Jones said: “The form book may indicate an obvious victory for Neath, but we are under no illusions as to the ability Ebbw Vale possess.
“Over the last four years we have had some great high scoring matches against them, and the moment you take a win for granted you will lose.”
Jones also promised to ring the changes in an attempt to keep their Celtic League aspirations alive.
“We are acutely aware that we need a win if we are to keep our hopes of progressing in the Celtic League alive.
“We expect to make five changes from last weeks side as we are looking to give everyone a chance to get into the starting line-up against Leicester in two weeks time,” Jones added.
Neath forward Brett Sinkinson is targeting the Heineken Cup match against Leicester as the perfect match for him to return from injury.
The 32-year-old has yet to play this season because of a knee injury but his return would be a welcome boost ahead of next month’s mouth-watering tie against Heineken Cup champions Leicester at the Gnoll.
A club source said “Treatment to the knee has been going well and he is on course to make the game on October 11.”
