Morris The Hero At The Gnoll
NEATH 34, EBBW VALE 7
Neath full back Gareth Morris helped himself to a hat-trick of tries as the Welsh All Blacks strengthened their case for a home quarter-final draw with a bonus point victory against Ebbw Vale.
After the disappointment of losing their unbeaten record at Ulster the previous week, Gareth Llewellyn’s men got back to business as they secured their bonus point in a dramatic first-half.
And with Munster losing their unbeaten record at Ulster, the way opened up for Neath to possibly top Pool A of the Celtic League.
Morris grabbed two tries in the first half and secured his hat-trick just before the end. Steve Tandy and Lee Jarvis grabbed the other tries for the home side.
Jarvis helped himself to his usual hat full of points as he ended the game with three conversions and a penalty for a match haul of 14.
This was Vale’s fourth defeat from five outings and they had two men sin-binned during the evening. Neath also lost Alfie Mocelutu for 10 minutes for a swinging arm tackle.
Richard Davies sped 75 metres for Vale’s only try of the game and Mark Meenan added the extra points.
