The in-form Swansea No 15 was originally thought to be missing only four weeks with knee ligament damage, but the national side’s medical staff have extended that to 6-8 weeks, putting him out of contention for the Tests against Romania, Fiji, Canada and New Zealand.
“We’re obviously disappointed Kevin won’t be taking part,” said Wales coach Steve Hansen “We were looking forward to working with him in November.
“But as a coach, you have to accept that players are going to get injured. They are playing a contact sport, after all.
“The only thing we can do is be positive so Kevin can be positive about getting back on to the pitch as quickly as possible.
“We’re looking at a few replacements,” said Hansen, refusing to divulge names. Cardiff speedster Rhys Williams and Bridgend’s Matt James are expected to figure highly in Hansen’s thinking.
Both are in fine form for their clubs in the Celtic League and they face each other at the Arms Park on Saturday afternoon.
