Pontypool overcame Carmarthen Quins at Pontypool Park to stay six points clear at the top of the table. Quins move down to third as Aberavon defeated lowly Treorchy to gain second place on try-count.
‘Pooler’ scored three tries in their 28-12 win over the Quins, with Giles Thomas kicking four penalty goals to close in on 1,000 points in his league career.
Aberavon ran in nine tries whilst defeating Treorchy 65-7. Fly half Gareth Lewis, on loan from Corus, as cover for Jamie Davies who is suffering with a groin injury, scoring twenty points.
Llandovery scored an important win in a fourth versus fifth match when they held off Newbridge by 19-12. The only try came from Llandovery’s former Ystradgynlais scrum half Rob Walters, but full back Stuart Harries was sent off for a high tackle.
Blackwood had a good 27-20 win at Tondu aided by 17 points from Martin Jones. Bonymaen won 16-8 at Whitland when Andy Llewellyn drove over for the winning score and Llanharan had a good 27-16 victory at Bedwas, where wing Matthew Rowlands, on loan from Ebbw Vale, snapped up a hat-trick of tries.
Tredegar were just too strong for Rumney and the return of Stuart Jarman from Caerphilly saw him score twice in a 33-20 scoreline.
Narberth scored the first and last tries only to go down 14-10 at Cross Keys, while the Glamorgan Wanderers-Beddau match was called off on Friday evening.
This Friday, Rumney meet Aberavon, but the Beddau versus Cross Keys has now been moved back to Saturday (Nov 16) along with six other matches, with Newbridge taking on Pontypool on Sunday afternoon.
