There have been 21 previous meetings between the countries at Student level. And with ten wins apiece, and one draw, Friday’s match assumes special significance.
The first match was in 1982, and featured a number of players who went on to represent their countries at senior level.
Mark Wyatt, Mark Titley and Kevin Hopkins all donned the red jersey of Wales, while Chris Martin, Mark Bailey, Nigel Melville, and the present England Students coach Richard Hill, all played for England in that match.
