The Valley Commandoes picked up injuries to three key players in the 57-17 win on Wednesday 19 March.

Brent Cockbain and Brett Davey picked up soft tissue injuries, although they are not thought to be serious.

But the bad news for Lynn Howells’ mean is that veteran scrum-half Paul John limped off with a possible knee ligament problem,

John was given a run out at fly-half with Wales’ world record holding points-scorer Neil Jenkins not fully fit.

But better news for Pontypridd is that their Wales international centre, New Zealand born Sonny Parker has had the protective cast removed from his arm. He should return in three weeks, making him available for the PARKER PEN CHALLENGE CUP semi-final against Wasps on April 12 and 25.

And prop Duncan Bell is recovering from a shoulder operation and is expected to be out for two weeks, while hooker Matthew Rees has been told to rest for a month because of a cartilage problem.
