Forster Suspended
Newport have taken internal disciplinary action against Wales A flanker Jason Forster and suspended him for two matches and fined him for over-vigorous rucking in last weekend’s Principality Cup semi-final victory over Bridgend.
Newport manager Jim McCreedy informed Bridgend of his club’s decision on Tuesday and Forster sat out last night’s 33-13 win against Llanelli at Rodney Parade. He will also miss Friday night’s Welsh Premiership match at Cardiff.
“After closely studying the video of our semi-final win over Bridgend, the Newport management were concerned at an incident of over-vigorous involving Jason Forster and the Bridgend No 8 Richard Bryan,” said McCreedy.
“We interviewed the player on Monday and told him of our concerns. He vigorously denied going into the ruck with any intent to injure Richard Bryan, and we accept his view.
“However, discipline plays a big part in rugby and the management team wanted to get that point across. That is why we informed the player he was being suspended for two matches and fined his match fee for the semi-final.”
For the record, referee Paul Adams witnessed the incident at close quarters and took no action.
