Gibbs Signs Up
Scott Gibbs has ended speculation over his future by signing for the new Swansea-Neath province.
The Wales legend had been targeted by clubs in both rugby codes having been linked with French outfit Castres and Warrington in the Super League but has committed himself to the new West Glamorgan region for at least the next two seasons.
Former Swansea teammate Colin Charvis said: “That’s a great signing for the region but there’s still some other top quality players who are free to join different clubs.”
Meanwhile Charvis, who left the All Whites after the club went into administration last month, has hinted that he could be looking to join former coach Mike Ruddock at the new Gwent province.
He said: “Swansea-Neath is an obvious choice but Mike Ruddock played a huge part in my career eight years ago when he brought me down from London Welsh to join Swansea.
“There’s been a lot of speculation but at the moment I’m just waiting to see how the coaching set-ups are, what kind of facilities there’s going to be, and what kind of teams are going to shape together that I’d like to be a part of.
I came from a division four team and within 18 months he’d got me capped for Wales. so I’ve had a chat with him to see what his plans are.”
