Caerphilly have played three Italian teams en route to the final, beating Rugby Rovigo, Rugby Parma and then Petrarca Padova. They now face Castres Olympique in the showcase final on May 25.
“Given the financial restraints on the club, and the fact we have a part-time team, our results this season have been astonishing,” said an upbeat Ring.
“”It is a massive massive achievement for the club. Considering the hardships we have had this season – we all know about the changes in the Welsh game at the moment – the season could have gone either way for us.
“We have suffered some heavy defeats this season in the Celtic League and it has been a battle to keep striving for wins and to keep improving as a team.’
And Ring has been doing his homework on his French opposition.
“We know Castres have a strong side, we know about the likes of Ibanez, and Reggiardo in the front row. And we know they have a good pack. But we will just play our game on the day.
“We will expect them to play a lot of phase rugby and get across the gain line before they release the ball.
“We have learned so much over a short period of time.
“We will see on the day if we are good enough, but it will be the biggest game for many of the boys in their careers
“This campaign has been highly satisfying, and I’m really proud of the players achievements.”
