Building on the relationship struck up between themselves and the Welsh Rugby Union during their highly successful ticket sales strategy for the World Cup warm-up matches in August, Tesco have offered the Welsh team a final shopping spree at one of their stores to ensure the players have everything they need when they are away.

“The Welsh team manager Alan Phillips came up with a shopping list of little extras the players required to complete their packing before the World Cup and Tesco have responded magnificently in offering the team £3,500 worth of goods,” explained WRU Group Commercial Manager Gwyn Thomas.

“There are things like dried fruits, sweets, a number of Tesco’s own range of low-fat, healthy eating products, including every popular deserts like rice pudding and custard, as well as a wide variety of toiletries.

“It is great to see the business sector backing an elite Welsh side and trying to make a difference when they are getting set to tackle the best teams in the world. These few home comforts will be greatly appreciated when the players are such a long way from home.”
