Thomas, the grandson of the late JBG Thomas (former sports editor of the Western Mail) and son of Gareth Thomas, who propped for London Welsh and the Royal Air Force, was capped by Wales against Portugal Youth whilst playing Rugby League with Bradford Bulls in 1998.
His Rugby League career continued with Manly in Australia, but Gloucester have moved him to the wing for his debut in the Zurich Premiership at the Majeski Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
