Lloyds Tsb National Leagues Preview

While the leaders Llanharan and their nearest rivals Maesteg are away in Division One, Blackwood entertain Carmarthen Athletic and Brynmawr, without a game for the last two rounds, must hope that Whitland will arrive to provide the opposition. However, the Rumney-Llangennech clash at Riverside Park could prove to be the most entertaining.

Unbeaten Merthyr travel to improving Abercynon in Two East, where two struggling clubs – Dinas Powys and Croesyceiliog – meet on The Common and Abertillery hope to field a side at Rhymney.

Corus had a walk-over in the cup last week and are the only unbeaten club in Two West. They will take that record away to Newcastle Emlyn, while rugby followers will be delighted with the progress of Dunvant and they have a home match against Birchgrove at Broadacre. The best match could be Cardigan at home to Pencoed – their first-ever league meeting.

Leaders of Three East – Senghenydd and Newport HSOB – both have home matches, while the four unbeaten clubs of Three West meet in the fixtures with Haverfordwest against Pontyberem and Kidwelly at home to Tenby.

The big match of Three South-East is most certainly at Rhydyfelin, where Gilfach Goch are the visitors and in Three South-West Bryncoch take on Kenfig Hill, who are fresh from their 103-point cup win over Penygroes.

Cardiff club St Peter’s should prove attractive visitors to Caldicot in Four East, where Monmouth v Chepstow is the big derby clash and in Four West there is a basement duel between Fishguard and Bynea.

Penarth are facing new travels in Four South-East this season and they will be hard pushed to win as they break new ground at Heol y Cyw after their poor showing at Pontycymmer a fortnight ago. In Four South-West the top match is when centenary-celebrating Amman United meet Cwmgors, the only unbeaten club in
the division.

Defeats in both cup and league will leave Nant Conwy hoping to get their show back on the road as they entertain unbeaten Caernarfon in Four North and in Five North a 100% record must go as Colwyn Bay entertain Machynlleth.

Top match of Five East must go to the fast-improving Bettws against fellow Gwent club Trinant and in Five West, top dogs Furnace travel to Pembroke. Five South-East will see an improving South Wales Police side meet Deri at the splendid Waterton Cross ground and in Five South-West the top fixture must be at Pontardawe, where Crynant will provide tough opposition.
