Division Two West leaders Corus had a shock when they lost 37-14 at Bridgend Athletic and with Dunvant’s revival continuing with a 36-17 win over bottom club Vardre, it means that they join Corus and Bridgend all with 15 points

from six matches.

In Two East, the Abertillery-Penygraig did not take place though Fleur de Lys played for only the third time and won again – 50-19 over Llantrisant.

Abercynon kept up their winning streak with a solid 22-13 victory at Ystrad Rhondda and Merthyr won a key match by 24-0 at Hirwaun to join Rhymney and Builth Wells three points behind Abercynon.

Kidwelly and Pontyberem remained unbeaten in six matches in Three West, with Haverfordwest also unbeaten after five, while in Three East, the last unbeaten record fell as Newport HSOB surprisingly fell by 19-11 to a fine performance

by lowly Abergavenny.

A late try edged Maesteg Quins to a 10-3 win at Skewen and they join Brynoch on six straight wins in Three South-West, after the latter won 17-10 over Mumbles.

In the South-East, Treherbert are in front thanks to a good 22-6 verdict at Pentyrch.

Ruthin continue to head Division Four North, but Nant Conwy are hot on their trail, while Bala are still searching for their first victory in that division, but are getting closer each week. There were no league matches played in Five North on Saturday.

Llandybie’s 45-12 win at Tycroes saw them retain the leadership of Four West, from Loughor, whose win by 48-0 over Burry Port kept them unbeaten, but having played one match less than the leaders. In Four South-West, the last

unbeaten club, Cwmgors, fell by 26-25 at Rhigos, but hold top place as Taibach could only draw 22-22 at Abercrave.

Four East has Bargoed unbeaten at the head and they emphasised their strength with a 51-0 win at Caldicot, while Blaina are just behind after defeating Chepstow 28-0. In the South-East, everyone has now lost as leaders Dowlais

fell sensationally by 29-13 at Pontyclun and Abercwmboi lost 15-10 at home to Pontycymmer.

Trinant and Machen are the unbeaten clubs in Five East with Trinant having played one more match. Both won on Saturday, both St Alban’s and Blaenavon respectively fought tremendously hard before falling. In the South-East,

Llantwit Major were without a match and both Llandaff and Llandaff North closed up with wins.

Resolven and Pontardawe have both won all six matches in Five South-West as Resolven travelled to Cwmgwrach and Pontardawe overcame Porthcawl at home,while in Five West it is Cefneithin who are top following an 85-8 succes s

against St Clear’s.
