“He is a proud Canadian so he hasn’t really given me any clues or insights into the team, which is a shame,” said Williams.
“I spoke to Dan before I came away, and I won’t be surprised if I hear from him before this weekend’s game.
“But we know they are a no-nonsense pack of big men, who are in your face on the field and can be awkward to play against.”
Williams, who is one of only two squad members to have beaten Canada twice – the other is Gareth Llewellyn, although his record also shows one loss – says he now feels like he has fully arrived at the World Cup.
“The defining point was moving to Canberra and establishing our base,” he said.
“Manly was great for recovery from the flight, but once we got here (Canberra) it all started to come together.
“With the NRL (National Rugby League) grand final on as well, it seemed like a lot of the media was devoted to that.
“This week we have seen a huge shift in focus onto the Rugby World Cup which is great for the tournament.”
And while Williams is a great fan of the apartment living, he says relocating to Melbourne on Friday will be a fresh start and a shift from tournament mode into Test mode.
“Once we get there and into the hotel, it will be 48 hours away from kick-off, and it will feel like we are moving into game build-up,” he added.
“It will also be good to see some of the Welsh supporters in Melbourne. They were very passionate about the Lions tour a few years ago and it seemed like four out of five supporters were Welsh. I expect there will be a crew of them in Melbourne.”
