The Dragons went into administration last week amid ongoing discussions between partners Newport and Ebbw Vale over the future of the newly-formed Welsh region.
And with the already sizeable debts expected to mount by the end of the season, coach Mike Ruddock has been told to make saving by cutting his squad.
“We will all be very, very sad to see them go although we understand that in professional sport you have to take tough decisions,” said the Zimbabwean born centre.
“But we won’t ever forget them. We will carry them with us in our hearts and minds for the rest of the season and do the best we can for them.
“In many ways, all that has happened in the past few weeks has merely served to bring us closer together as a squad and make us even more determined to make the Dragons a success.”
“We need people to back us at this time. We need to know that people in Gwent want us to succeed and are willing to come out and support us.
“Regional rugby is completely new to everyone in Wales. The players all believe it is the right way forward as it has already created greater competition for places and we are all operating at a higher level.
“Yet still there are so many rugby people in Wales who don’t want to give it a chance. They want to tear it apart rather than try to build it up.”
The Dragons have overcome a start of season stutter, and have climbed up to the upper echelons of the fiercely competitive Celtic League, largely thanks to their awesome home record theta has seen them dispatch the likes of Munster and the Ospreys.
