‘We had an amazing reaction to the news that a small number of tickets for the matches against France, Scotland and Italy at the Millennium Stadium were going on public sale,’ said WRU General Manager Steve Lewis.
‘We knew this would be good news for the fans, but we didnt expect them to buy up the full quota of 12,000 tickets made available in such a short space of time. As a result, we have offered a further 1,500 tickets for purchase today for the three fixtures via our ticket agents, Ticketmaster – 08705 582 582, and through our website www.wru.co.uk .
‘The rapid response from the fans is proof that there is still a huge demand for international rugby tickets and completely vindicates our policy of asking our member clubs and affiliated bodies to give us an early assessment of their requirements. The next deadline for us will be in the first week of December when we get the returns from our 19,000 debenture seats.
‘If there is any spare capacity left after that date then they will also be put on public sale. The whole idea of giving people as early a chance as possible to buy their tickets is to ensure we have capacity occasions for the three championship matches.’
