Maesteg ran in nine tries with a brace each for Grant Epton, Jason Riggs and Alun Brown as they blasted a game Rumney side 56-25, though the losers had tries by Stuart McIntyre, Peter Tennent, Neil Coles and Anthony Jones.
Bonymaen have jumped three places in a week and they ripped Blackwood apart by 43-6 with Lyndon Johnson and James Davies crossing twice each and Andrew Jacobs and Anthony Evans one each with Evans adding 13 more points with his boot.
Carmarthen Athletic signed up Ricky Richards from Neath and he and the splendid Graham Evans scored two tries each with Chris Harries, Kevin Rees and Aled Thomas also crossing in a 50-14 in over Treorchy, for whom good young fly half Morgan Stoddard scored two tries and converted them.
Llangennech edged out Glamorgan Wanderers 26-25 with Mark Bowen again on the try-sheet and Mark Jones kicking 11 points as Mark Haywood booted 17 for the Wanderers.
Narberth wingers Andrew Jones and Dan Gravell scored two each of the seven tries in a 51-19 win over UWIC, who fought back to 29-18 at one stage.Whitland wing Jack Tremlett scored twce in a good 41-13 win over Beddau after losing 10-13 at the interval and Tondu fought back to 24-28 after being down 3-28 at the break against Tredegar, who gained their first win of the season.
Division 2.
Dunvant made great use of their superb Broadacre pitch to record an excellent 32-22 win over fellow Division 2 West front-runners Corus on Saturday. Centre Rhys Williams bagged 17 points and Paul Morris, Andrew Henson and Matthew Ware all added tries for the winners.
Bridgend Athletic beat off Newcastle Emlyn by 25-10 and Cwmllynfell went into fourth place with a good 27-14 win away to Cardigan.
In the East, Abercynon wing Ian Withey notched five tries as his club won 73-0 away to Dinas Powys and Risca gained a good win 19-10 at Rhymney. Only three other matches were played and they were all away wins, coming from Llantrisant, Croesyceiliog and Merthyr.
Division 3.
Newport Saracens won their derby match against the High School Old Boys in 3 East and Old Illtydians, in their 75th season, pulled off a 19-17 win at Llanishen. The Saracens have been joined on 15 points by Brynithel, Senghenydd
and Cwmbran.
In 3 West, all the leading clubs won with Kidwelly smashing Llandeilo 77-29, but both Pontyberem and Haverfordwest retained their unbeaten records There were no changes in 3 South-East or 3 South-West, with Treherbert topping the
former by three points from Gilfach Goch and Maesteg Quins and Maesteg Quins, Bryncoch and Banwen all on 21 points in the latter.
Division 4.
The West provided a shock as Llandybie crashed 25-19 at Laugharne, while Bargoed head the East after a win at Ynysddu and they are five points in front of Blaina, but Fairwater made a jump in the South-East after a fine 23-17 win at Heol y Cyw and are on 18 points along with Pontycymmer and Pontyclun.
In the North it was same again for leaders Ruthin and second-placed Nant Conwy, while Bala just failed to register their first win after they fell 17-12 at Wrexham. Taibach are now four points clear at the top of the South-West after
narrowly defeating Briton Ferry, while Cwmgors crashed 26-12 at Glais.
Division 5
West leaders Cefneithin beat Penygroes 32-5 and Llantwit Major won a floodlit match at South Wales Police on Friday to top the South-East on 21 points with Llandaff, who edged through by 15-13 at Cilfynydd.
North leaders Denbigh smashed Rhos by 64-5 and Colwyn Bay are second after defeating Bro Ffestiniog 19-12, while in the East both Trinant and Machen remain unbeaten after wins over Garndiffaith and RTB (Ebbw Vale) respectively, but in the South-West leaders Resolven had their match called off at Cynant as a member of the home club had been killed whilst serving in Iraq.
