Llanelli have won Welsh rugby’s annual challenge cup 12 times, but have never met Brecon in the 33 seasons of the competition, despite the pair
first playing each other in January 1889.
Cardiff also have new opponents as they travel to Division One club Brynmawr. The Gwent club recently signed fly-half Jason Williams, the
highest-ever league scorer in Wales who has already scored 175 of his club’s 290 points this season.
Of the 16 Premier sides entering the last 64, Cross Keys and Carmarthen Quins are paired at Pandy Park and Llandovery will entertain Neath at Church Bank.
The Cup also sees a return for former Wales League and Union scrum-half David Bishop to one of his old clubs. Bishop coaches and occasionally plays for the Old Illtydians on a Cardiff park, and they are drawn away to Ebbw Vale, where the Illtydians scored a memorable 14-11 Cup win in 1994-95.
