Welsh Premier Division Preview

The war of words between Neath and Aberavon appears to have ended and the great rivals can get on with their rugby at the Gnoll, when Aberavon search for their first win since Boxing Day 1983.

Neath have won all the 13 meetings at home since then and are also out to complete a league double this season following a 43-18 win at Aberavon back in September.

While this is probably the main attraction, there will be great interest at Church Bank, where Llandovery start favourites to beat Cardiff and then take on Neath in a cup-tie on the 27th. It has never been better for the Drovers with their two signings from Aberystwyth – Ifan Evans and Eifion Gwynne – both in superb form.

Llanelli and Swansea will always attract a good crowd to Stradey Park, while Carmarthen Quins will be hoping for a good turn-out to see an entertaining match against Bridgend. Caerphilly should have a front row fit to meet

Pontypool and Ebbw Vale’s match against Bedwas is a must-win for both clubs.

Leaders Newport take on Gwent rivals in Newbridge and the latter’s coaches, Mike Watkins and Jonathan Westwood, are both ex-Newport players. Finally, Pontypridd with only one home loss this season take on Cross Keys, who have won on their last four outings.
