Kidwelly, Haverfordwest and Pontyberem all have 39 points in a tight battle in the West. Kidwelly’s 38-6 victory over Aberystwyth was a great success for scrum half Craig Thomas, who scored five of the six home tries, but the other two clubs also gained victories, while in the East, Brynithel’s hard-earned 11-3 win over battling Talywain leaves them six points ahead of Llanishen,
Cwmbran and Senghenydd.

Llanishen fell 13-10 at home to Abergavenny and Senghenydd just held off Cwmbran by 18-13, while Old Illtydians had a good 44-5 away win to Newport
Saracens.

Gilfach Goch and Nantymoel top the South-East with 30 points each as both won away. Gilfach edged out Ynysybwl 13-8 and Nantymoel stopped Nelson’s march
by 19-12. Rhydyfelin ran in eight tries for a 55-17 win over Tonyrefail as Scott Perry contributed 17 points.

In the South-West, Banwen opened up a five-point lead over Maesteg Quins, as the latter’s match was called off. Banwen beat Mumbles 23-8 and Nantyffyllon, who visit Swansea soon in the cup, defeated Ystalyfera 28-9 and are third, just ahead of Glynneath, who edged out Kenfig Hill 13-10.
