A mixed team, representing the Health and Racquets Club at The Vale Hotel Golf and Country Club, are this year’s winners of the WWRU Touch Rugby Tournament.
And the 12-strong Vale squad will make an early return to The Millennium Stadium – scene of their weekend triumph – for part of the prize is a private box for 12 people at this season’s Wales-Italy Six Nations international.
The Vale was one of eleven teams that did battle before they eventually emerged 2-0 winners over the Chepstow-based Broadhall Hampton side.
The tournament was organised as a fundraiser for the Women’s National Squad’s summer tour of South Africa, which will involve players from the under-19, development and senior squads.
“The tour to South Africa is vital to our development, as we look to reach our targets for the 2006 World Cup. We were delighted by the support that we received from the business community for the Touch Rugby Tournament. It was a complete success and we hope to build on this in the future,” said WWRU Business Manager, Laura Oakes.
