The Dragons’ stunning Celtic League season came to a halt last night as the lowly-placed Glasgow side put them to the sword at Hughenden.

There were 29 points between the table-topping Dragons and the cellar-dwelling Glasgow side before kick-off, but that meant nothing as the Gwent region’s inability to perform outside of Rodney Parade continued.

The Scots held a 21-11 lead at halftime and comfortably extended their advantage to win 48-20 in a classy performance that belied their second-from-bottom spot on the table.

Glasgow out-scored their visitors by seven tries to one, with former Springbok star Percy Montgomery registering the Dragons’ only five-pointer.

Meanwhile, the Cardiff Blues’ incredible surge up the table continued with a nail-biting 22-18 victory at Donnybrook.

The Blues survived a late red card to lock Rob Appleyard for punching and a yellow card to fellow second-rower Craig Quinnell to pull off a memorable victory that brings them right into contention for the title after a poor start to the season.

Appleyard and in-form fly-half Nick Robinson scored early tries to give the Blues a 12-10 lead at the break, but it took a try to veteran centre Pieter Muller to clinch the game.
