Cooper Ready To Commit
Gareth Cooper is ready to commit himself to the Celtic Warriors by signing a new contract with the Welsh region.
Wales scrum-half Cooper is one of the hottest number nines around after his showing at the World Cup and Six Nations and still has a year to run on his current contract.
But he will meet with regional bosses next week and says he is ready to put pen to paper and pledge his future to the Warriors.
“I’m really happy here at the Warriors and I think if the team manages to keep a hold of a lot of the boys then it will really bode well for the future,” said 24-year-old Cooper.
“It will be nice to have my future sorted out soon so that I can get on and concentrate totally on the rugby.”
English-born prop Chris Horsman, who qualifies for Wales on residency grounds next May, has already signed a two-year extension that will keep him at the Brewery Field until 2007.
That news, along with Cooper’s plans, will come as a huge boost to the region, which will undergo a major re-shuffle this summer.
Dafydd James, Nick Kelly, Matthew Nuthall and Shaun James have all been released while Neil Jenkins will retire and Gareth Thomas is poised to join Toulouse.
