Bargoed ended the season as the only first-class club in Wales to be unbeaten, but their title win in the East was soured by the fact that bottom club St Joseph’s could not field a side to finish the fixtures off. It left Bargoed with 21 wins in as many matches and one unplayed.

In the West it was Loughor who captured the title after defeating Pembroke Dock Quins in the final match by 46-8, yet defeat would have left both clubslevel on points and try-count being the important factor.

Pontycymmer captured the South-East title after Abercwmboi knocked Fairwater back to third in the final match in that division.

Ruthin were the North winners after veteran fly half John Tudor ensured it with two penalties in a 6-0 win away to Nant Conwy a few weeks ago and the losers finished runners-up, but fell badly at Llangefni on Saturday by 53-11.

Cwmgors took the South-West title by try-count from Alltwen and could thank Rhigos were allowing Alltwen just one try in their final match.
