Agreement was reached following a series of meetings between the WRU General Manager Steve Lewis, Richard Harry of the WRPA and senior members of the current Welsh Squad.
“The arrangement we have put in place covers all Wales games between now and the end of the 2005 RBS Six Nations Championship and covers all aspects of the Unions relationship with the players both on and off the field,” said
Lewis.
“We have been discussing this matter for some time and I would like to commend the players and the WRPA representative, Richard Harry, on their very professional approach to our negotiations. The outcome has been met
with widespread approval on both sides and I think we have forged a good working relationship for the future.
“Without going into precise details, the new terms are improved from our previous deal and, as far as the November internationals and RBS Six Nations Championship are concerned, are heavily based on performance.”
Richard Harry, chief executive of WRPA, said: “The players are pleased that this issue has been resolved and they can now concentrate on what will be a difficult and testing tour to Argentina and South Africa.”
