Warriors Trio Set For Blues Debut

Cardiff Blues will hand debuts to new signings Rob Sidoli, Deiniol Jones and Gethin Jenkins against double European champions Leicester Tigers on Saturday.

Coach Dai Young has named all three former Celtic Warriors in his 26-man squad for the pre-season friendly including ex-Tiger Freddie Tuilagi who returns to Welford Road following his summer transfer to the Blues.

Young said: ‘If all goes to plan we will be giving some game time to newcomers like Rob, Deiniol and Gethin and it also looks as if Gareth Williams, Robin Sowden-Taylor and Jamie Robinson will also feature, subject to late fitness tests.

‘The Tigers have named a strong side and we aim to be very competitive in what will be a real test for us ahead of the start of the Celtic League next week.’

This will be Cardiff’s second pre-season journey to England following their 12-10 defeat to Zurich Premiership newboys Worcester before kicking off their domestic campaign at Leinster September 5,
