Pencoed could be well satisfied with a 20-17 win over Nantymoel, but Newcastle Emlyn almost brought off a shock before losing 11-10 at Corus.
In the East, Abercynon and Treherbert hit the top with Cynon’s smart skipper Leighton Winder running in three tries in a 45-7 win over Treorchy and Treherbert winning 35-20 at Risca.
However, there were shocks in this division as Newport Saracens pulled off a fine 18-8 success at Llantrisant and Rumney crashed 24-5 away to improving Ystrad Rhondda.
