Leaders Maesteg fell to a surprise 13-6 defeat at Narberth as the Otters fly half Gareth James pulled off a stunning interception, converted his try and landed a penalty and drop goal for all the home points.

There was also a shock for Whitland as Bonymaen fly half Anthony Evans returned from injury to inspire a 34-15 success in which he scored 14 points and Lyndon Johnson scored a fine interception try.

Glamorgan Wanderers held off a Builth Wells rally to win 22-5 and Llangennech gained a victory at Bridgend Athletic, while UWIC ran in seven tries in a 54 -10 success at Blackwood as Aled Thomas kicked eight goals.

Brett Davey notched another 18 points as Beddau beat Fleur de Lys 43-6 and Carmarthen Athletic centre Kevin Evans scored two of their five tries in a 34-8 win over Tonmawr.

Ystrad Rhondda swept to the top of the East after a 13-3 win over Brynithel and there were losses for Treherbert and Abercynon – the latter despite playing against a 13-man Llantwit Fardre for much of their 13-10 loss.

In the West, Waunarlwydd gained a hard-earned win over Corus to stay ahead of the chasing Cwmllynfell, while Newcastle Emlyn won their first match, surprising Felinfoel 18-13.
