Llandovery’s home match against Carmarthen Quins was iced off, but six games will be played on Thursday, beginning with Swansea home to second-placed Llanelli at St Helen’s (5.00pm). The other five games begin at 7.15pm with third-placed Newport home to Bedwas at Rodney Parade and Cardiff entertaining fast-rising Cross Keys at the Arms Park. There will be a Gwent derby at Pontypool Park, where both Pontypool and Newbridge, coached by former hookers Steve Jones and Mike Watkins respectively, are fighting for points.

Another derby is at the Brewery Field when Bridgend and Llanharan meet for the third time this season. It is 1-1 after Bridgend recently gained a cup win after Llanharan had secured home league points earlier in the season. In the final match at Sardis Road, Pontypridd look to complete the double over in-form Caerphilly, who defeated Aberavon last week.
Division One
Only two matches were due over the weekend with Bridgend Athletic having their game against Bonymaen called off due to the waterlogged Newbridge Fields.
Whitland tightened their hold on second place behind Maesteg after winning a hard-fought 9-3 verdict over Carmarthen Athletic. Aled Davies placed a first half penalty goal for the Borderers and added two more after the interval. The Athletic secured a second-half penalty goal from Julian Howells in his first match since ‘retiring’ in the summer.
Division Two
Waunarlwydd took a six-point lead at the top of Division Two West after overcoming early attacks from second-placed Cwmllynfell. In front of an excellent Tuesday afternoon crowd, the home side owed all their points to the Daniel with fly half Simon kicking three penalties and converting one of the two tries scored by his brother from the lock position.
Division Three
Pembroke Dock Quins moved over Aberystwyth into third place in Division Three West after gaining a narrow 8-6 home win over lowly Tenby United, who made the Quins fight all the way for three points. In games to come over the next few days, Nantyglo and RTB (Ebbw Vale) meet on Thursday, December 30 in Division Five East, while on Sunday, January 2, Aberavon Green Stars and Taibach have a derby match in Division Four South-West.
There are three matches on Monday, January 3 when Aberavon top the bill at home to Carmarthen Quins at 2.30pm in the Premier Division. Also playing are Mumbles against Newcastle Emlyn in Division Two West and Haverfordwest against Lampeter in Division Three West.
