DIVISION ONE
Whitland’s involvement in the Cup allowed both Maesteg and Llangennech to move above them at the top of Division One with Maesteg regaining the top spot after defeating Blackwood 16-13. A try by former Youth cap Nick Walsh was converted by Mark David, who placed a penalty hat-trick, while Llangennech had a splendid 20-17 success at Beddau, where Mark Jones kicked ten points and Brett Davey only managed seven for the losers. Bridgend Athletic completed a double by winning 15-13 at Builth Wells as Carle Ellis and Chris Whitcombe went over against a home try from Matthew Lewis. A late Phil Dolman kick earned UWIC a 16-all draw at Carmarthen Athletic after Mark Williams and Aled Thomas had scored Athletic tries and Alex Eatley and Nathan Trowbridge went in for UWIC. Bonymaen wing Chris Batsford gained the only try of a 16-6 win at Fleur de Lys and Lyndon Evans (2), Len Woodard, Richard Morgan and a penalty try came as Tonmawr beat Brynmawr 27-5.
DIVISION TWO
In the East, Ystrad Rhondda won the top match by 38-12 over Newport Saracens while cup fighters Llantwit Fardre progressed to third, as did the other giantkillers Banwen in the West, where leaders Waunarlwydd and Cwmllynfell both won. Waunarlwydd only just held off a good challenge by Newcastle Emlyn to win 27-19 and Cwmllynfell won 42-0 at Cwmavon, but there was a thriller at Broadacre where Dunvant led 23-17 to the final minute. Pontyberem scored a try, but the conversion attempt hit a post and they failed by one point.
DIVISION THREE
Remarkable Bargoed continued their winning ways – by 23-8 over Senghenydd in the East, where Rhymney pulled off a good 12-8 win over Old Illtydians in Cardiff and in the West it was Aberystwyth at it again as they beat Gorseinon 28-23 away and allowed Loughor, who lost the previous week to Aberystwyth, to move ahead after defeating Llaneli Wanderers 51-10. In the South-East, Mountain Ash ran riot with an astonishing 130-0 win over Peygraig, who have seen their players back from suspension, only to quit the club for pastures new. The Old Firm ran in 19 tries, converting 16 and landing a penalty goal. Leaders Rhydyfelin won 24-18 at Tonyrefail and Ruthin notched seven tries in a thrashing of Pontycymmer. Maesteg Quins head the South-West after a 59-6 win over bottom club Glynneath and Seven Sisters upset Alltwen 31-12, while in Four South-West Tonna were held 23-all by battling Ystradgynlais as Resolven moved further ahead.
DIVISION FOUR
Pontllanfraith extended their lead in the East after a crushing win at Crumlin and Trinant are clear second after defeating Cardiff HSOB25-18. In the West, Amman Utd cracked 40 against Crymych and the leading clubs all gained victories, while in the South-East, Fairwater bounced back to form to beat Llantwit Major 49-5, but there were also wins away from home for Aberdare and Penarth. North leaders Llangefni won again, by 42-8 at Rhyl and Mold follow them four points adrift after defeating Pwllheli 34-17. In the South-West, there was a huge shock as second-placed Tonna were held 23-all at home by Ystradgynlais, leaving Resolven eight points clear after a 38-6 beating of Briton Ferry.
DIVISION FIVE
The South-West saw shocks as Abercrave drew 13-13 at Glyncorrwg and Crynant fell at home to Birchgrove by 21-0, while Nantyglo won 10-9 at Blaenavon in the East and Machen moved over Abertillery BG to third after defeating them by 24-7. Bethesda and Bala still race for the North title after Bethesda beat Bro Ffestiniog 48-24 and Bala won at Machynlleth 30-14. Penallta won by 45-0 over Porth in the South-East where three tries saw South Wales Police top the division after a 17-12 win at Rhiwbina and there were three-pointers for Cilfynydd and Cefn Coed. Pembroke retained their lead in the West after winning 17-7 at Llangwm, but Llanybydder at the bottom gained a surprise 37-29 win over Swansea Uplands.
