Over 20,000 fans and supporters packed into the home of Welsh rugby to honour the Grand Slam winning side of 2005. Famous faces from stage and screen came along, but the guests of honour were newly wed couple Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. Fans were treated to a range of live entertainers and choirs, including Peter Karrie, Aled Jones and Wynne Evans.
Following from that a mixture of live interviews with players and team management, live entertainment and footage of all five of Wales’s RBS Six Nations matches on the giant inflatable screen on the pitch allowed the whole of the nation to celebrate a famous RBS Six Nations.
Wales’s all-time leading try scorer and Captain paid tribute to the fans, saying: “The nation can carry on celebrating, but as players we have to look to move on. The guys came here not to stand and take the plaudits, but to show our appreciation for the fans. While Welsh rugby is on a high, we have to draw a line under it.”
