STAGE IS SET FOR CLASSIC CELTIC CUP FINAL
Llanelli Scarlets were the first to book their place in the final with a 23-15 win last Saturday over Celtic League Champions, the Ospreys, at Stradey Park. They will face Munster, who 24 hours later accounted for Leinster at Lansdowne Road, winning 23-17 thanks to skipper Anthony Foley’s last ditch try.
Saturday’s final will be the third meeting between the sides this season, with honours even in the two league games, but ominously the Scarlets have won only once in Ireland in the last six months, and lost to Leinster on their only previous trip to Lansdowne Road.
In contrast Munster are regular visitors to Irish Rugby’s HQ, aside from games against Leinster they have beaten Ulster in the semi final of the 2001 Celtic League, while they went down 32-27 to Wasps in last season’s epic Heineken Cup semi final.
