ASDA LEAGUE WEST ROUND UP
Although not getting the game all to themselves against lowly Banwen, Brian Shenton’s side once again proved they are the team to beat as they made it four wins from four with a 41-14 home win.
Dunvant may be hot on their heels with an equally impressive three from three record following their 34-19 home triumph over Mumbles, but it might not be until December 10 when the two teams clash at Broadacre that something gives at the top of the table. Veteran No. 8 Paul Morris and former Swansea stand-off Rob Sweeney were among the Dunvant try scorers and full back Mark Williams bagged 19 points.
Carmarthen Athletic mounted a major second half revival at Tonmawr to overcome a 6-0 deficit and emerge triumphant 8-6. Austin Howells kicked two first-half penalties for the home side before a Chris Harries try and Rhodri Thomas penalty earned the Atheltic the points.
Gorseinon proved far too strong for Seven Sisters on home soil, winning 29-8, while scrum half Craig Thomas grabbed two tries in Kidwelly’s 33-6 victory at Pontyberem. Loughor took Bridgend Athletic’s unbeaten record with a 34-21 home win that contained tries from Mark Williams, Jason and Daniel Howell and Steve Raikes.
Trimsaran heaped more pressure on bottom of the table Tenby United in League Three West as they ran out 32-0 victors on the road to take over at the top. League leaders Llangefni had their game with Hendy postponed because of their visitors’ Konica Minolta Cup commitments, but still remain the only unbeaten team in the division.
However, Haverfordwest also went above them thanks to their 17-7 home victory over Aberystwyth. Laugharne were comfortable 41-7 winners over Amman United, Newcastle Emlyn pipped Lampeter 19-11 and Penclawdd won 26-5 at Tumble.
Pontarddulais won the top of the table clash in League Four West with some ease as they ran out 34-10 winners at previously unbeaten Neyland. Llandeilo also had an impressive away win, 34-10 at New Dock Stars, to join Pontarddulais in retaining their unbeaten tag.
Aberavon Quins continue to lead the pace in League Three South West following their fourth successive victory, 42-29 at home to Cwmgors.
