WELSH SIDES TAKE BACKSEAT IN CELTIC LEAGUE

The round kicked off on Friday night when Edinburgh Gunners extended their impressive record at Murrayfield with a 28-12 victory over Glasgow Warriors, a victory that returned Gunners to the top of the Celtic League table. Rob Dewey also went to the top of the try scoring list, his 71st minute score for Gunners his 4th try in as many consecutive games.

Saturday saw the western Irish Provinces face up in Galway. Connacht had no answer to Munster’s superior power as they went down 19-44 at the Sportsground, Munster claiming a try bonus point in the process.

And in the final game of the round Ulster fronted up to their oldest rivals Leinster at Donnybrook.  Felipe Contepomi was successful  with six out of 6 penalties whilst Denis Hickie grabbed a vital late try in Leinster’s 30-23 victory which saw them close the gap on their provincial rivals at the top of the Celtic League table.

All in all an exciting weekend for Celtic Rugby which sees Edinburgh Gunners return to the top of the table, a better points difference separating them from the Munstermen, Leinster lie in third. Interestingly these top three teams have won all three of their home games in the competition so far this season.
