Third-placed Llanelli Wanderers stayed in touch with the top two in arguably the game of the day in Welsh rugby, winning a thriller 42-41 at home to Newcastle Emlyn, while Lampeter’s 18-16 win over Llangefni was their first of the season.
Division 3 South-West leaders Tonna are seven from seven after a 21-5 win over nearest challengers Cwmgors, but while Alltwen are none from eight after a 19-8 home loss to Ystalyfera.
Pontycymmer relinquished the lead in Division 4 South-West after a 31-24 home defeat to Birchgrove, with Morriston’s 39-13 mauling of Glais moving them into the top spot. In Division 5 West, Burry Port’s unbeaten record remained intact with a 32-16 win over Penygroes, but Llanybydder suffered their first loss – a 10-8 defeat at Tycroes.
