INVESCO PERPETUAL SERIES MEDICAL REPORT – Issue 1

The British Lions and Llanelli Scarlets scrum-half is recovering well, but will be given another week of treatment to ensure he reaches full fitness.
Wales picked up no further injuries during their defeat to the world’s top ranked side at the 74,000 capacity Millennium Stadium on Saturday.
Captain Gareth Thomas and second row Brent Cockbain were the two players who left the field against New Zealand due to injury.
Cockbain joined Cardiff Blues flanker Martyn Williams – absent last week due to the loss of his mother – in returning to full training this morning and both will be available for selection against Fiji.
Thomas has returned to club duty in France and should be available to play for Toulouse this weekend after suffering a dead leg.
Long term injury victims Tom Shanklin (knee), Ryan Jones (shoulder), Gethin Jenkins (shoulder) and Gavin Henson (groin) are being monitored by the Wales medical team.  Shanklin’s position is due to be reviewed in the new year, Jones has had a scan on his shoulder today (Monday) and is visiting specialists, Jenkins is said to be well on the road to recovery although is not likely to figure in the Invesco Perpetual Series.
Thomas’ fellow non-Welsh based players Stephen Jones, Mark Taylor and Colin Charvis have also been requested by their respective clubs and consequently released by Wales. Chris Horsman and Mefin Davies have both made themselves available for international selection with the permission of their clubs.
