LOMU BOOSTS BLUES

Lomu sent a message to the Blues fans that was transmitted on loudspeakers around the Arms Park at halftime of Friday night’s game against Munster. The giant All Black said he was recovering well from a shoulder injury and can’t wait to stake at starting against London Irish in the Powergen Cup on December 3rd.

That was music to the ears for the miserable home faithful who watched the Blues lose 18-16 to Munster – their fourth defeat in their past five games. Lomu said: “I want to tell everyone at Cardiff Blues it’s a great privilege and honour for me to join the club.

“I’m looking forward to it and I hope to bring something to the team hope to be a great start kick start my career again.

“The shoulder is good and now I’m sick of running around the training pitch. I can’t wait to get a feel for the team and get stuck in to things. The good thing is that we all speak the same language.”

Lomu arrives in Cardiff next week but the Blues will not play until after the autumn Test series. That will give coach Dai Young some time to find out what’s going wrong after losing more ground in the Celtic League. Lee Thomas booted three penalties and converted Marc Stcherbina’s first try for the region but it was not enough to beat table-toppers Munster.
