PRINCIPALITY PREMIERSHIP PREVIEW
The Welsh All Blacks ground out a 34-18 victory over bottom-placed Llandovery last time out and sit proudly once again as leaders of Wales’ top flight. The All Whites represent a potential banana skin for Neath but eight wins in nine games speaks for itself whilst Swansea flounder on six points from a possible twenty seven.
Bedwas entertain Pontypool hoping to continue their rise up the table after a useful 15-21 win at Ebbw Vale last weekend. Pontypool sit second from bottom in the table and are in desperate need of a win to kickstart their season while Bedwas will be looking to continue their recent run of good form.
Carmarthen Quins welcome Maesteg with the sides level on points and separated only by points difference. The Old Parish sit a place above the Quins and Friday’s clash promises to be a close fought battle for three points that could prove vital at the end of the season. Both sides have so far failed to establish themselves in the Premiership this season but Maesteg will be full of confidence after a 45-8 mauling of Welsh Cup holders Llanelli last Saturday.
Llandovery meet Aberavon with the misery set to continue for the Drovers who are propping up the league on just three points. The Wizards have emerged as one of the form sides this season and are joint top having only dropped three points. This game has come at the wrong time for the Drovers who are desperate to find form and climb the table but will not do so against such an impressive Aberavon outfit.
Glamorgan Wanderers clash with Ebbw Vale after finally getting their season on track with a fine run of recent results. A 6-13 win at Pontypool in their last outing propelled the Wanderers into eighth spot in the table as they continue to impress on their return to top flight rugby.
In the day’s other games Cross Keys front up to Pontypridd in a game that could see Pontypridd fall away from the league’s leading pack and Bridgend travel to Llanelli.
