OSPREYS LAUNCH MATCHDAY TV
The Ospreys new matchday TV service premiered at Liberty Stadium last weekend, providing supporters with a selection of exclusive Ospreys programming. The service kicked off on Sunday with highlights of last weekend’s game at Leicester as well as interviews with Ospreys stars and coaching staff, previewing the big game.
Ospreys TV launched it’s broadcast prior to kick-off, at half time and at the end of games on every matchday at Liberty Stadium, across a range of 77 installations, either 28″ widescreen televisions or 42″ plasmas. Supporters will be able to enjoy Ospreys TV wherever they are in the stadium, with programmes showing in all hospitality suites, public concourses, the main bar areas, boardroom and executive lounges. Programmes will be broadcast.
The Ospreys have teamed up with Sports TV, the UK’s leading supplier of in-house television channels for sports clubs to bring the new venture to the screen, with the club benefiting financially via revenue generated from the sale of on-screen advertising. Sports TV are providing the Ospreys with cutting edge technology and will aim to create an enhanced matchday experience for both the regular fan and corporate sponsor. Using a combination of live statistics, cutting edge technology, dynamic formats and club specific programming, it is intended that Ospreys TV will offer a unique rugby experience for Ospreys supporters, bringing them closer to their club.
Roger Blyth, Ospreys Managing Director welcomed the arrival of Ospreys TV:
“We are always looking at ways in which we can improve the matchday experience for our supporters and we believe that in Ospreys TV we really are onto a winner. Everyone involved with the club is excited about the prospect of us having our very own television channel broadcasting on a matchday and believe that once they have experienced Ospreys TV, our supporters will feel exactly the same.
“As a region, we are renowned as being innovative and offering supporters more than just 80 minutes on a rugby field, and once again, thanks to Ospreys TV we are leading the way in Welsh rugby. From Sunday, Ospreys fans can arrive at Liberty Stadium and enjoy a drink with their friends whilst enjoying all that Ospreys TV has to offer, which is programming that they won’t see anywhere else.”
Sports TV recently signed a five-year agreement to become the official supplier of in-stadia programming to the Football League, and the partnership with the Ospreys marks a new venture for the company.
David Mattock, Chief Executive of Sports TV said:
“We are delighted to be joining forces with the Ospreys on a project that will enhance the matchday experience for supporters and give clubs and their sponsors a perfect opportunity to raise their profiles.”
