SCARLETS STADIUM PLANS UNDER SCRUTINY
The scheme includes a state-of-the-art 15,000 capacity home for the Scarlets with an indoor training barn and parking area.
An athletics track with a 500 seater stand, floodlit practice pitch and gymnastics facility is proposed as part of a community sporting complex.
A food store, petrol station, Travel Lodge, two fast food restaurants, bulk retail stores and a family pub/restaurant are also included in the project and Dyfed Powys Police want to open a community facility.
The proposals are to go before the county council’s planning committee which meets at County Hall tomorrow morning.
Carmarthenshire County Council is working in partnership with Llanelli Scarlets on the project, which has attracted interest from major retailers.
The plans were put on show at a public exhibition recently as part of ongoing consultation with the community.
Assets executive board member Cllr Clive Howells said: “The council has been working closely with the Scarlets on this exciting development, which will secure the future of the club and provide much needed first class sporting and leisure facilities for the county in Llanelli.
“The plans will now be considered by members of the planning committee.”
