BUSY WEEKEND AHEAD
At the elite end of the game, Wales’ pre-Six Nations training camp is a central part of their preparation, with the players coming together at the Welsh Institute of Sport for a high-intensity training weekend. The camp offers an opportunity for the players and management to have quality time together as a squad, both on and off the pitch, ahead of the campaign opener against ‘The Old Enemy’ on Saturday 4th February.
An exciting weekend also bodes for the junior regions, with East Wales hosting their West counterparts at both U14 and U17 age groups. Both fixtures will take place at Treorchy RFC, with the U14s kicking off at 1pm and the U17s following at 2.30pm. After the last round, which saw East come tops at U14 and West triumphant at U17, both sides will be looking to make an impact as the competition takes speed.
Also looking to impress will be match official Debra Evans. Following a number of successful run-outs at junior club level, she’ll be the first woman to have control of the whistle in a junior regional fixture, refereeing the U14 game and running touch in the U17 match.
North Wales U14s are also in action this weekend, as they take on Sandsbury RFC in a training fixture at Mold Alun school on Sunday (kick off 2pm).
