LLANDAFF NORTH DEFEAT PONTYCLUN
As the home team only had 13 players, there were spaces for the Llandaff North backs to exploit with wing Vicci Mcgrath opening the scoring with a try in the corner. After a shaky second quarter, Llandaff North started to produce some top quality open rugby with the team playing with smiles on their faces.
Full back Jess Kidley, thriving in her new position, was counter attacking well from the high balls that Pontyclun’s young outside half was putting up. These attacks enabled Llandaff North to score 2 a piece through wing Gemma Williams, Full Back Jess Kidley and centre Stacy Hardie (the latter scoring through a barn storming 40 yard run).
Pontyclun really started to get into their stride in the second half, and were camped on Llandaff North’s line for sometime before they were rewarded with a well worked try from their Outside Half.
Further scores for Llandaff North came from 5 conversions from Outside Half Paula Mullen, centre Sophie Wilkinson and Number 8, Vikki Gaylard, who celebrated her call up to the senior Welsh Squad with another fine display.
Llandaff North would like to thank Pontyclun for playing the fixture with 13 players to enable both teams to fulfil the fixture.
