Wales’s Invesco Perpetaul Series last Autumn attracted 294,648 fans for the games against New Zealand, Fiji, South Africa and Australia (average attendance 73,662), while there was a record crowd against Scotland of 74,128 for the first of Wales’s three RBS Six Nations matches. The game against France on 18 March is already a 74,000-plus sell-out and ticket sales for the match against Italy on 11 March are on target for another full house.
If you add in the Powergen Cup sales to date, along with the 15,000 tickets that have already been sold for the Heineken Cup final (15,000 are being held back for the eventual finalists) then you reach a figure of 574,776 rugby sales at the home of the national game – equating to nearly £15m worth of gross ticket revenue.
“The Powergen Cup semi-finals and Heineken Cup final are hugely welcome additions to our already packed rugby programme at the stadium and I am sure the Tigers, Wasps, Bath and Scarlets’ fans are in for a treat of almost three hours of top quality rugby on Saturday,” said Millennium Stadium Chief Executive Paul Sergeant. Tickets, which include both matches, cost £18 and £28 for adults and £9 or £14 for under-16s and are available from http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/ or 08705 582 582 and from the semi-final clubs.
