TYLY LADIES UNBEATEN RECORD CONTINUES
Tyly were quickly ahead after 2 minutes when Non Evans kicked a penalty for an offside infringement. Straight from the re start Tyly were back on the attack from some clever inter play from Naomi Thomas, Jamie Kift and Rhian Adams and only some stubborn defence from the Quins forwards stopped Tyly from increasing their lead.
Tyly were able to exploit the gaps behind the scrum and it wasn’t long before the scoreboard was ticking over on a regular basis. Naomi Thomas revelled in the open spaces and showed why she has nailed the National No 10 jersey to her back. Even though Tyly had the upper hand during most of the game they couldn’t quite get their rucking game going and showed some rustiness due to their lack of game time. This seemed to spur on Quins and although the score line may suggest otherwise Quins were always in the game and they performed particularly well.
In the 2nd half the Tyly backs were reminiscent of the great Welsh side of the 70’s. The hair styles may have changed but the brand of rugby certainly hadn’t. Naomi Thomas seemed to have so much time with the ball in hand that she was able to put her team mates into space or put clever kicks to the corners, this kept the forwards going forward at every opportunity. Further tries were scored by Rhian Adams and Louise Daniels. Lulu has now scored in every game for Tyly this season and it can only be a matter of time before further honours follow.
Special mention must go to ‘Bomber’ who put in some huge tackles in defence which resulted in Tyly managing to turn the ball over several times. In what is Tyly’s 6th season of rugby Non Evans has created an individual points record for a game, scoring 41 points with 4 tries and 21 points from the boot.
What was most pleasing about the result was the fact that Tyly are still to concede a single point this season and are now top of South Wales League Division 1. However the coaches would like to point out that sterner tests lay ahead when fixtures against second placed Llandaff North and third placed UWIC eventually come to fruition. Final score Tylorstown 76 Cardiff Quins 0.
