Craig Lloyd and Ross Palmer shared scoring duties for Pill Harriers as they were held 19-19 by visiting Llantwit Fardre. Outside half Lloyd grabbed a brace while flanker Palmer also crossed for a try and kicked two conversions.
Rhydyfelin eased any relegation worries and consolidated their position in mid-table with a 22-15 win over Mountain Ash. Tries came courtesy of winger Gavin Close, centre Kirk Richards and scrum half Nicky Griffiths with centre Scott Perry kicking two penalties and a conversion. Elsewhere, Llantrissant saw off Tredegar 14-10 and Croesyceiliog notched a useful 10-13 win over Rumney.
In Division Three East Gareth Bailey-Jones bagged 21 points as Lanishen defeated New Tredegar 36-19 in a rearranged fixture. Scrum half Andy Howard, full back Grant Morris and prop Jamie Harrison all crossed for tries for Llanishen who remain seventh in the table.
High-flying Abergavenny remain unstoppable after they dispatched Cwmbran 18-17 thanks to an injury time penalty from Carl Walbyoss.
The run-away league leaders were pushed all the way by middle-table Cwmbran and scored tries through full back Geraint Pritchard and
winger Gareth Hughes-Jones. Elsewhere, Pontypool Utd won 10-26 away at Fairwater and Pontllanfraith made it an away-day double with a 5-48 victory at Old Illtydians.
Garndiffaith steal top spot in division four east after they beat Cardiff HSOB 13-27 and St Peters’s game with Nantyglo fell victim to the
weather.
In the division’s only other game Keith Clarke was the hero for Newport HSOB as he kicked the match-winning penalty in their 22-20 victory over Monmouth. Outside half Clarke also crossed for a try while other scores came from Glen Stroud (try), Matthew Clements (try) and two conversions from Alun Williams.
In division five east RTB Ebbw Vale remain glued to the bottom after they were edged out by Cladicot 3-0. Full back Vince Minto kicked the winning penalty for the home side to leave RTB Ebbw Vale still looking for their first league points of the season.
