QUINS CRUMBLE AT CRUMLIN

With a number of regular players missing, the Quins played the majority of the fixture will only 13 players and were exploited on the outside by some good handling from a well organised Blaenau Gwent backline. Kim Boaler showed her pace by scoring four tries for the home team.

The Quins put in a brave effort for the 80 minutes, never looking to give up and were rewarded in the second half by a well worked team try, set up by a great break from second row Kim Parry and some slick hands from the backs finished off by Gwawr Jones.

But it was too little too late and Blaenau Gwent came back to score a final try before full-time.

Nadine Griffiths, Quins’ coach, who came out of retirement (again!) for the match commented, “It was a really enjoyable fixture and I don’t think the result reflected the game.  We played some really good rugby, but were just outdone because of lack of numbers. Blaenau Gwent seem to be getting stronger each time we play them, which is a credit to their coaches”.

Cardiff Quins’ next match is a home to UWIC on Sunday 23rd April 2006, kick off 2pm.
